ACTORS

Here is our actors on and off screen . By taking pictures of them together it helped us see how they would look like as a couple. Marcus and Lucy will be the main actors of our movie however Marcus is only taking part in the filming process where as Lucy is part of our group. 

LIP SYNC

We created this video to see if we are talented enough to include lip syncing in our music video. We may not be the best but some of us are good. So we decided to include small amount of lip syncing but the rest of the video will be narrative .By doing this we were also able to practice our editing skills  and it made us clear of how we would have to edit the shots when it comes to the real music video. 

PERMISSION REQUEST

This is a screenshot we sent to the producer of  Arctic Monkeys and we also sent it to one of the music producers as it would be more direct. We did this to show that we are asking for permission to use the music video.

VlOG UPDATE

This is a quick vlog update we created to show you how we are getting along and  which steps we will be taking next and we also gave you an insight on our characters. 

SONG CHOICE

Song Choice - Snap Out Of It - Arctic Monkeys.

We choose this song as we found the lyrics to be very relatable with the music video that we want to create. Also the beat would work well when we are going to do transitions of the shots. Our group has not watched the music video as we thought it would be best not to get influenced by the original video and it would be easier for us to come up with ideas and create something unique.

THEME IDEAS

We used "I i were a boy " as an inspiration for our own music video as the theme will include a female character doing activities which is usually seen as normal for males to do. The theme is to create a distortion and confusion also role reversal.

How to identify narrative and performance music videos ?

Narrative based songs usually tell a mini story , it usually had a beginning , middle and end. It is well structured and planned. It could even be done to promote a film . Story could even be displayed through the lyrics of the song , it does not have to be through the video. Narrative videos are more effective and more dramatic 

Performance videos are usually based on a stage with close up shots, but it is no very emotive. It can contain audience. They usually use various kinds of props, actions and one main locations. It concentrates more of the visual style of the artist.

As a group we came up with various narrative and performance videos and singers.

As you can see we were able to find more narrative songs than performance.

The genre we choose for out music video is Indie. 

Indie was first described as music produced on punk and post- punk labels. Many indie rock bands were found in the 1980's. It was originated in United States and United Kingdom. It was a very diverse genre. There is both Indie pop and Indie rock.

IDEAS

First  Ideas

For our music video we came up with the idea to do a contrast between black and white and dark and light. Furthermore we want to use different locations and we want to create something that will keep the audience want to watch and think what will happen next. We want to do narrative video however we might add performance to change the atmosphere of the video and make it different. Moreover i think by doing a narrative we will be able to reach the audience and we want to make them feel like they are park of the video. 

PRELIM

PRELIM IDEA 

For our prelim we decided to recreate the music video of Happy by Pharrell Williams.Our video is 30 seconds and consists of different shots and it is very fun to watch.  We did not create many shots that were challenging but this is because we wanted to make the exact copy of the original video and due to it being a prelim we did  not have much time and we were experimenting on making a quick video .
